Heaven
A while back I read "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn. I must admit I struggled even picking the book up to read it for a long time because my views of heaven (even as a born-again Christian) have been so skewed. It bothered me so much that I knew I was going to heaven some day but it also scared the living crap out of me. Honestly people, when you think of heaven do you think clouds and harps and streets of gold and oh yeah...absolute boredom? Satan has been so effective at conjuring up fallacies about heaven that even Christians believe the falsehoods to be truth. Well my friends, the good news is satan is a liar and God has something better in mind for us than clouds and streets of gold. Do we really think that God would move us from the beauties of earth to an eternal home that is worse, less attractive, dull? No, He would not and He will not. The truth is friends, God our Holy Creator is going to create for us heaven on earth...literally! This earth is going to be renewed and we will behold more glorious beauties than our eyes have ever beheld in this life. We can't even imagine how awesome it will be, and that is exciting not boring!
If you are afraid of heaven or have some similar views to what I once did, I encourage you to follow this blog. I will be sending daily updates on the notes I have taken from Scriptures and from reading Randy Alcorn's amazing book, so you too can share in my excitement.
Heaven notes day one:
*"Anthropological evidence suggests that every culture has a God-given innate sense of the eternal--that this world is not all there is."
Ecclesiastes 3:11b "He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
REALIZE YOUR DESTINY
God did not design us to eat gravel. Trying to develop an appetite for a disembodied existence in a nonphysical Heaven is like trying to develop an appetite for gravel. It's not going to work! Nor should it!
What God made us to desire is exactly what He promises.
WARNING ON YOUR THOUGHTS OF HEAVEN/WHERE THEY ORIGINATE
**"Satan need not convince us that Heaven doesn't exist. He need only convince us that Heaven is a place of boring, unearthly existence."
